2002 Acura MDX
First introduced to the flooded SUV market in 2000, the Acura MDX Sport
Utility has successfully carved out its own niche, seamlessly combining
outstanding performance with high standards of luxury and convenience.
It drives like a sedan, but offers the build and versatility of a rugged
sport utility.
Available Models
This year, just one outstanding Acura MDX Sport Utility model
is available and comes with several different packages so that you may
upgrade your vehicle to suit your family, work, and lifestyle requirements.
Interior Features
The 2002 Acura MDX SUV comes packed with luxuries like a seven-speaker
AM/FM cassette stereo with in-dash CD player, and a synchronized automatic
climate control system. There are three rows of seats to accommodate up
to seven passengers comfortably, with 14.8 cubic feet of cargo space when
all seats are in use. The second and third row seats split and fold flat
into the floor to add up to 82 cubic feet of additional cargo space when
you need it.
The
optional MDX Touring Package adds eight-way power adjustable driver's
and passenger's seats with memory, and a premium eight-speaker Bose audio
system with six-disc in-dash CD changer.
Exterior Features
The 2002 Acura MDX sports a tough yet sophisticated exterior
design highlighted by a signature Acura grille, large bright headlights,
chiseled front fascia, and a wide stance for increased stability. The
Touring Package includes a roof rack, dual power outside mirrors with
memory feature, and Michelin Cross Terrain tires and exclusive alloy wheels.
Performance
Under the hood of the Acura MDX Sport Utility roars a formidable
3.5-litre, SOHC, 24-valve, all-aluminum engine that produces an impressive
240 horsepower and 245 lb-ft of torque. The standard transmission is a
responsive electronically-controlled five-speed automatic, and the fuel
consumption rating checks in at 17/23 mpg (city/hwy).
For additional power and versatility when faced with challenging terrain
and weather conditions, the MDX SUV packs an innovative VTM four-wheel
drive that allocates torque from the front to the rear wheels to prevent
slippage from occurring. Power steering and a four-wheel fully independent
suspension, plus four-wheel disc brakes with ABS lend to precision handling
and full control.
Safety and Security
The 2002 Acura MDX Sport Utility Vehicle is equipped with standard
safety features that include basics like a driver depowered air bag, passenger
depowered air bag, front passenger side impact air bags, head restraints,
and three-point seatbelts. Each vehicle also lists child safety locks
in the rear seating area, and child seat tethers and anchors in the second
seating row. Other standard fare includes side impact door beams, and
crumple zones to channel the energy of an impact away from the cabin.
