2002 Toyota Avalon
For work, family, or play, the exciting new 2002 Toyota Avalon is a tremendous
all-around vehicle that fits the bill perfectly. Plenty of interior room

Available Models
This year, there are two stellar models on the market - the
Toyota Avalon XL Sedan and the Toyota Avalon XLS Sedan. XLS beefs up the
standard luxury features even further to add tremendous value and enjoyment
to the vehicle.
Interior Features
Within the spacious and well-appointed interior is seating
for five or six comfortable passengers depending on configuration. Models
built to accommodate five feature a center console with cup holders and
shift lever, while the six-passenger vehicles include a dual power split
folding front seat with fold-down armrest.
Among the standard fare in the Avalon are dual zone climate control,
illuminated entry system, power windows, AM/FM stereo with cassette and
CD player, and power door locks with auto-lock feature. The Avalon XLS
model turns up the volume with additions such as compass, instant fuel
economy readings, fuel range meter, and calendar functions on the display.
As well, the XLS comes with an HVC-integrated dust and pollen filter.
Exterior Features
The Toyota Avalon is available in eight gorgeous exterior colors,
and headlines a sophisticated silhouette that is functional as well as
beautiful. With thicker glass, steeply-angled windshield, recessed windshield
wipers, and cab-forward design contribute to reduced wind noise.
Performance
The Avalon shines in this department, delivering top performance
with an eye towards efficiency. Under the hood is a 3.0-litre, 24-valve,
4-cam, V6 engine that kicks up a storm with 210 horsepower and 220 lbs-ft
of torque. The fuel economy rating checks in at 21/29 mpg (city/hwy),
and the standard transmission is a responsive and smooth four-speed automatic
with overdrive. Each vehicle is also equipped with a MacPherson strut
front suspension and independent dual-link rear suspension.
Safety and Security
With safety a priority for everybody these days, the Avalon
responds with standards such as three-point seatbelts with pretensioners,
a driver side air bag, passenger side air bag, side impact air bags, ABS
brakes, and child safety locks in the rear seating area. Front pillars,
center pillars, and roof rails are made of shock-absorbing materials.
The XLS is bolstered further by available traction control, Brake Assist,
and Vehicle Skid Control. XLS also features an electrochromatic rear view
mirror.
