2003 Buick Park Avenue
The Buick Park Avenue has long been a leader when it comes to blending
style, luxury and performance in a sedan. For 2003, the manufacturers
of the Park Avenue pay homage to this tradition, offering a new Ultra
model that reaches into the past for its design inspiration. With features
reminiscent of the original, unveiled all the way back in 1949, the new
Ultra is given a classic look with a modern car's attention to power and
comfort.
Available Models
The 2003 Buick Park Avenue is available in the aforementioned Park Avenue
Ultra model and a base model as well.
Interior Features
The 2003 Buick Park Avenue is laid out with roominess as a top priority.
Up to six passengers will find enough space in all seating positions to
stretch out and enjoy the ride. And the ride is certainly made comfortable
with the number of standard features provided. The base Park Avenue comes
filled with amenities, including power steering, tilt leather-wrapped
steering wheel with radio controls, air conditioning with dual-zone automatic
climate control, cruise control, leather upholstery, 10-way power front
seats with driver-seat lumbar adjustment and remote keyless entry.
The new Ultra model has a distinct interior style to match its vintage
outer look. Burled Walnut Woodgrain can be found on the steering wheel,
instrument panel trim and door trim, while the instrument panel is also
given a premium feel with new contemporary gauge-cluster graphics.
Exterior Features
The Ultra's exterior style hearkens back to the days of jazz and the beat
generation. The special retro design features such things as a "waterfall"
grille, tri-shield Buick insignia and chrome-plated exhaust tips. Also
prominent are classic front fender "VentiPorts" portholes, whose
functional application is to allow increase airflow to the engine compartment.
Performance
The base model and the Ultra are given two separate engines that both
provide plenty of power. The former is equipped with a 3.8-liter V6 with
205 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 230 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm, which
gets 20/29 mpg (city/hwy). The Ultra has a juicy 3.8-liter supercharged
V6 with 240 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 280 lb-ft of torque at 3600 rpm,
translating into a fuel economy of 18/28 mpg (city/hwy). 4-speed automatic
transmission is standard on both models.
The Ultra provides maximum performance features in its standard package.
Along with an antiskid system, a Gran Touring Suspension package is also
standard, offering firmer suspension, aggressive tires and turn-signal
lights in the mirrors.
Safety and Security
There is no ignoring safety and security with the Park Avenue. Both models
have dual front airbags and 4-wheel antilock disc brakes.
