sedan model is filled with practical features, including auxiliary lighting
in the glove box and trunk, electric rear window defogger and delayed
exit/entry lighting. LS models add on cruise control, a leather-wrapped
steering wheel, front bucket seats (for five-passenger seating) and a
6-way power driver seat with lumbar adjustment.
The options list is filled with interior perks, including an AM/FM CD
player, XM Satellite Radio, the OnStar system and steering wheel radio
controls.
Exterior Features
The 2003 Chevrolet Impala has an understated style that fits perfectly
with its quiet-but-efficient demeanor. For 2003, four new exterior colors
make their debut: Superior Blue, Berry Red Metallic, Victory Red and Cappuccino
Frost Metallic.
Performance
The quietness the Impala offers is certainly a plus when referring to
its engine, which hums along effortlessly over the road. Base sedan models
are equipped with a confident 3.4-liter V6 with 180 horsepower at 5200
rpm and 205 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm, while LS models add more power
with a 3.8-liter V6 that pumps out 200 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 225
lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. Shifting is handled by 4-speed automatic
transmission.
The excellent fuel economy of the 2003 Chevrolet Impala is broken down
as follows: the base model engine has a fuel rating of 21/32 mpg (city/hwy),
while the LS engine offers 20/30 mpg (city/hwy). In addition, LS models
are also prepped for slightly higher performance demands with standard
Sport Touring Suspension and traction control.
Safety and Security
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration rates Impala as five-star
for both front and side-impact testing for front and rear passengers.
Impala LS features a driver's side-impact airbag, remote keyless entry,
traction control, tire inflation monitoring system and antilock brakes,
all optional on the Impala sedan.
