2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
The Monte Carlo is a veteran of the roadway that steps up each year to
deliver a modern set of capabilities with sport-inspired styling. Cousin
to the successful Winston Cup racer, the street version of the Monte Carlo
has that added jump that allows it to stand out from the competition.
Quick out the gate, the acceleration of the 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
continues even at high speeds. With a fine blend of interior and exterior
styling features, the package of the Monte Carlo can be said to check
off all the points on any customer's wish list for two-door coupes.
Available Models
The 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo is offered in an LS model and an SS model.
While the LS model covers all the basics, the SS is a slightly sportier
in its look and feel.
Interior Features
The 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo seats five, with two comfortable bucket
seats up front and a split folding rear bench seat in the back. The LS
has a nice list of standard features, including air conditioning with
dual-zone manual climate controls, interior air filter, power steering,
cloth upholstery, power mirrors, windows, and door locks, remote keyless
entry, AM/FM/cassette, digital clock, tachometer and outside-temperature
indicator. The SS adds cruise control, leather-wrapped steering wheel
with radio controls and illuminated visor mirrors fog lights.
The options list addresses interior comfort with an AM/FM CD player,
XM Satellite Radio and the convenient OnStar system. For people who just
can't kick the habit, an optional Smoker's Package is available, which
includes an ashtray and lighter.
Exterior Features
The 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo's distinct look is a result of its long
sloping hood, short rear deck and distinctive "C" pillars. SS
models feature a rear spoiler, 225/60SR16 performance tires and alloy
wheels.
Performance
Performance is a main feature that the Monte Carlo has always offered.
2003 sees no change in this policy. The LS model features a 3.4-liter
V6 engine that offers 180 horsepower at 5200 rpm. SS models step up to
the plate with a confidence that results from the 3.8-liter V6 under the
hood, which pumps out 200 horsepower at 5200 rpm.
The 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo is also good on gas mileage. 21/32 mpg
(city/hwy) is the rating for the LS model, while the SS engine offers
20/30 mpg (city/hwy). Both models have 4-speed automatic transmission.
Safety and Security
Since the 2000 model year Monte Carlo has met all 2003 government occupant
protection standards, and recently received a 5-star rating for driver
and front passenger protection in frontal crash tests. Dual front airbags
are standard on both models. The SS has standard antilock brakes, which
are an option on LS models.
