2003 Chevrolet S-10 (4WD)
For a compact pickup, the 2003 Chevrolet S-10 has a surprising amount
of power, while exhibiting the type of toughness and dependability one
would expect from a Chevy truck. Along with 2WD S-10 models, 4WD models
round out the healthy lineup of 2003 Chevrolet S-10 pickups. Providing
more seating and the added handling of four-wheel drive, these models
up the performance level for both work or play.
Available Models
The 4WD S-10 comes in a base model and a loaded LS model. There is an
extended cab, which provides a 6-ft. short bed, three doors, and seating
for three or four, and a crew cab, which has four doors, seats five, and
has a slightly shorter 4.6-ft. bed.
Interior Features
Front buckets seats can replace the standard bench seat, but that decreases
the seating capacity on both configurations by one. A delayed interior
lighting feature inside the 2003 Chevrolet S-10 keeps the dome lamp lit
for 15 seconds or until the ignition is turned on after closing the front
doors. With a retained accessory power feature, the stereo, power windows
and other power options remain active for as long as 20 minutes after
the ignition is turned off or a door is open.
Base models are equipped with air conditioning, power steering, a new
cloth upholstery, AM/FM radio and digital clock, while LS models add a
tilt leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, AM/FM/CD player,
tachometer, passenger-side visor mirror and carpeting. For more, one need
only dip into the options list.
Exterior Features
There are a number of equipment packages available for 2003 that provide
exterior style features for the S-10. Wheel flares, fog lights, deep tinted
glass, alloy wheels and side steps can all be added, depending on the
package.
Performance
4WD models receive a capable 4.6-liter V6 engine that provides 190 horsepower
at 4400 rpm and 250 lb-ft of torque at 2800 rpm. 4 speed automatic transmission
is standard on the crew cab and optional on the extended cab. 5-speed
manual transmission, while standard on the extended cab, is not available
on crew cab models. The S-10 provides value with a good fuel rating, at
16/22 mpg (city/hwy) for automatic transmission and 17/22 mpg (city/hwy)
for manual.
Increased Capacity Suspension handles all the bumps on the road. For
extra off-road capability, customers can opt for a ZR2 Wide Stance Sport
Performance Package. This includes extra-wide argent wheel flares, 46mm
Bilstein high-pressure gas shocks and 31-inch x 10.5-inch R15 on/off road
tires.
Safety and Security
The 2003 Chevrolet S-10 has a sturdy construction that can withstand impacts
if needed. All models come with driver and passenger air bags, antilock
brakes, a PASSLock theft-deterrent system and daytime running lamps.
