2003 Chevrolet Astro
The 2003 Chevrolet Astro is one of the original minivans to take over
the American car industry to the point that they are almost standard equipment
for families and commercial ventures with need for cargo or passenger
carrying capacity, reliability, safety and pure utility. With a classic
design, shared only by the GMC Safari, the Astro meets all these criteria
and then some.
Available Models
The 2003 Chevy Astro comes with 2-wheel rear-wheel drive or all-wheel
drive (AWD) and has one fully loaded trim level. The LS seats 8 passengers
on two front buckets and two rear bench seats but there is a cargo version
also that is fitted with only two seats. These minivans are all equipped
with sliding side doors and rear cargo doors that can be replaced by optional
Dutch Doors with independently opening windows.
Interior Features
The 2003 Chevy Astro carrying capacity and versatility becomes quickly
apparent to anyone as soon as they start loading this big truck-based
vehicle. Although the Cargo has slightly fewer features, it still comes
with air conditioning, power steering, variable intermittent wipers and
durable vinyl floor coverings instead of the standard carpet.
The LS adds significantly to this list. Cruise control, power windows,
door locks, mirrors, a tilt-steering wheel and floor matssatisfy the needs
of the consumer along with many other interior features. Additional equipment
for all models can be found in the attractive options list, which includes
items like a 6-way power driver seat, a stereo upgrade and an overhead
console with an assortment of functional displays and information.
Exterior Features
On the outside the 2003 Chevy Astro minivan sports a theft-deterrent system
to protect you and your property, 215/70R16 tires rear privacy glass,
swing-out rear side windows and a 6-wire trailer harness. The many doors
and door options make it very easy to get yourself, your family and your
stuff in and out.
Performance
The performance profile of the Astro van is pretty impressive. For example,
they all come with a powerful V6 engine. The 4.3-liter power source has
a 190hp output that pumps 250lb-ft of torque at 2800rpm. This will carry
and pull heavy items with little difficulty. The AWD model holds the road
with confidence in inclement weather also, meaning that the Astro is a
comforting vehicle to own when traveling in winter conditions with your
family in the back. The 4-speed automatic transmission is capable of 15/20mpg
(city/hwy)
Safety and Security
Entry-level models are equipped with 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, daytime
running lights and dual front airbags.
