2003 Chevy Suburban
It is a testament of a vehicle's place in the national fabric that at
the mere mention of its name, one instantly recognizes its design. This
is true of the 2003 Chevy Suburban, the first veteran of the full-size
SUV segment. The 2003 Chevy Suburban retains all the brawn an innovative
styling of famous earlier models, and adds a new set of safety features
and even more creature comforts to increase driving pleasure.
Available Models
The ½-ton 2003 Chevy Suburban is offered in two models: LS (base)
and LT. Two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations are both available.
Interior Features
The four-door Suburban has enough interior space to seat nine people with
ease. The 2003 Chevy Suburban's instrument panel and cluster have been
redesigned to accommodate the increased processing power of its electrical
system. The Suburban also features a new dual-zone manual-control heating,
ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Additional standards include
cruise control, 6-way power front seats, remote keyless entry and an AM/FM/CD
player.
There are quite a few new, optional infotainment systems, including new
Bose sound systems and a rear-seat entertainment system that includes
a DVD player with a flip-down screen. These systems feature the next-generation
Radio Data System and can interface with services such as XM Satellite
Radio.
Exterior Features
The Suburban's exterior mirrors are remarkable in themselves. They feature
power-tilt glass and power folding to protect them in narrow spaces; heating
elements that clear frost, snow or ice; left-side electrochromatic glass
that dims glaring headlights; puddle lights; new turn signal indicators
in the glass and a memory feature.
Performance
The Suburban never has, and never will, shirk its duties as a high-performance
SUV. Inside is a Vortec 5.3-liter V8 that pumps out 285 horsepower at
5200 rpm and 325 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. 4 speed automatic transmission
takes care of all the shifting, all the time. A battery rundown protection
automatically turns off the headlamps, park lamps and interior lights
after 10 minutes if left on inadvertently.
Customers looking for added stability can opt for the available StabiliTrak
system, which maximizes handling and braking dynamics by using a combination
of systems and sensors including antilock brakes, traction control and
electronic suspension.
Safety and Security
The manufacturers at Chevrolet take safety and security very seriously.
The 2003 Chevy Suburban comes with standard four-wheel disc, four-wheel
antilock brakes featuring dual-piston calipers with Dynamic Rear Proportioning
and dual-level airbags with a passenger-sensing system.
