2003 Dodge Dakota

The 2003 Dodge Dakota is a compact pickup with the heart of a full-size truck. It is offered in a wide variety of different size configurations and trim levels, making it one of the most diverse vehicles on the road. Able to do the dirty work when needed, the 2003 Dodge Dakota also possesses a nice set of on-road manners for everyday driving.

From 2003, the Dodge Dakota gets new transmission, brakes and tires. It has evolved to meet the demands that modern customers have for their pickups. Chief among these demands is the characteristic of versatility, something which the Dakota seriously prides itself one.

Available Models
The 2003 Dodge Dakota is offered in a three-passenger regular cab, a six-passenger two-door extended Club Cab and a six-passenger four-door crew cab Quad Cab. Regular and Club Cab have a 6.5-ft cargo bed, while the Quad Cab has a 5.3-ft bed. In addition, there are Base, Sport, SLT and R/T trims levels.

Interior Features
No matter which Dakota size and trim you buy, interior comfort will not be an issue. Regular Cab and Club Cab are the largest in the compact class, offering the roomiest front seating areas in the class as well. In fact, the 2003 Dodge Dakota Club Cab is the only Club Cab model in the compact segment to offer a full-size, forward-facing rear bench seat.

The roominess doesn't end there. The 2003 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab's interior is the largest among four-door compact pickups. It has the most front and rear shoulder and hip room as well. With 60/40 split rear seats that can fold up together to accommodate large objects or individually to accommodate a combination of people and cargo, the Quad Cab is also very versatile. Exterior Features
For 2003, the Dakota is available with a new 'Stampede' package on Regular Cab and Club Cab Sport models. It features unique monochromatic custom front and rear body color fascia moldings, ground-effect side body moldings, 16" x 8" aluminum wheels, wheel flares and a rear stabilizer bar.

Performance
There are three engines available with the 2003 Dodge Dakota. The standard 3.9-liter Magnum V6 is rated at 175 horsepower and 225 lb-ft. of torque. Customers can choose one of two V8 engines as an option. Dakota is the only compact pickup to offer V8 power. The first is a 235-horsepower, 295 lb-ft. torque 4.7-liter Magnum V8 engine. The second, offering 250 horsepower and 345 lb-ft. of torque, is a 5.9-liter Magnum V8 that has the distinction of being the most powerful engine among all compact pickups.

These strong engines result in unsurpassed ability. Dakota's 6600-pound maximum towing capacity and 2160-pound maximum payload capability places it far ahead of its compact competitors.

Safety and Security
4-wheel disc brakes are new for the Dodge Dakota. Front and rear antilock brakes are optional. Dual front airbags are standard.
