2004 Jeep Liberty

Jeep's compact sport utility vehicle has a host of new equipment features that turn the powerful model into an even more appealing choice in its class. Included in the new package are new colors, new safety features and an available hands-free cellular phone link.

Backed by a seven-year/70,000-mile warranty, the 2004 Jeep Liberty virtually guarantees its build quality. It also guarantees listening pleasure, as the base Sport model now comes with an AM/FM/CD player in its standard goods.

Available Models
The 2004 Jeep Liberty is offered in three trims: Sport, Limited and Renegade. The Renegade model is covered separately.

Interior Features
Though a compact SUV, the four-door Liberty still manages to accommodate five passengers, while offering 69 cubic feet of cargo space.

This year, a rear cargo organizer is available for the 2004 Jeep Liberty. The foldable cargo organizer is stored flat when not in use, and opens to a shelf with compartment dividers to keep packages in place.

Limited models can be spiced up with a quick order package that includes such things as an Infinity AM/FM/cassette/CD player, a mini overhead console, a trip computer, heated power mirrors, an automatic day/night rearview mirror and a theft-deterrent system with alarm.

Exterior Features
For 2004, Jeep Liberty models will be seen in ways like never before. They are offered in two new colors: Deep Molten Red and Timberline Green.

Performance
Base Sport models use a 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder engine. It produces 150 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 165 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. 5-speed manual transmission is mated to this I4.

Limited models get the engine that sets the Jeep Liberty apart. It is a 3.7-liter V6, and it gives the compact SUV 210 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 235 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. It can be mated to the 5-speed manual transaxle or 4-speed automatic. With automatic transmission and a trailer tow group, the Liberty can tow up to 5000 lbs, which just happens to be the best in the segment.

All Jeep Liberty models are available in both two- and four-wheel drive. Four-wheel drive Liberty models are equipped with a Jeep's Command-Trac part-time transfer case or the optional full-time Selec-Trac transfer case, both with a low-range option.

Safety and Security
Standard safety features for 2004 include dual front airbags and a belt-alert function. Antilock brakes, curtain side airbags, a new tire-pressure monitor and limited-slip rear differential are optional.
