2004 Pontiac GTO

Pontiac rolls back the clock for 2004 and brings the GTO out of its hibernation. The new version of one of the original muscle cars has everything you would expect it to, including a high-performance 350-horsepower engine, aggressive styling and interior comfort.

Built by Holden, Pontiac's Australian branch, the new 2004 Pontiac GTO is every bit a driver's car. That much is obvious by glancing at the specs. It is also evident once you open up the doors and look at the GTO's interior, which is obviously designed with a driver-first perspective.

The speed is spine tingling, the design cool and the seating comfortable. That's what it means to be a classic.

Available Models
The 2004 Pontiac GTO is offered in one model.

Interior Features
The interior begins with four leather bucket seats that are as soft and supple as can be. They come in black, or they can be color-coordinated with the vehicle's exterior color.

Moving on, you'll find a satin-finish steering wheel and race-inspired metallic pedals. Standard equipment includes a 6-disc CD-changer with a premium 10-speaker sound system, cruise control, a multi-function driver information center, a keyless entry system and a host of other features.

Exterior Features
Pontiac describes the GTO's exterior design as distinctive and tautly stretched, with an aggressive lowered stance and a sleek, simple form.

Seventeen-inch alloy wheels and performance tires are responsible for keeping the 2004 Pontiac GTO in-tune with the road.

Performance
The new 2004 Pontiac GTO has a tighter suspension, a more powerful engine and a four-on-the-floor manual transmission with two additional gears. Pontiac's speedster reaches 60 mph in about five-and-a-half seconds, and runs the quarter mile in under 14 seconds. That is what it's all about.

The engine under the Pontiac GTO's hood is a modified Corvette V8 model. The 5.7-liter LS1 engine has the ability to rev out an exhilarating 350 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 365 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm.

In addition to the 6-speed manual transmission that is offered, the rear-wheel drive GTO can also be had with a 4-speed electronic automatic transmission.

Safety and Security
There are a number of engineering components that help drivers maintain a stable, even ride no matter how fast the GTO is going. With fully independent, performance-tuned suspension featuring direct-acting stabilizing bars and power rack-and-pinion steering, the stability is certainly there. In addition, traction control and a limited slip differential are standard.

Other standard safety features include dual front airbags, antilock 4-wheel disc brakes and fog lights.
