2005 Buick Park Avenue

The 2005 Buick Park Avenue is in its last year as Buick's flagship sedan. As always, the Park Avenue is a refined sedan. The spacious Park Avenue, known for its tight handling and reliable V6 power, has carved an immovable place for itself in the realm of fine automobiles.

For this last year, in recognition of a long and illustrious history, the 2004 Buick Park Avenue features a vertical-bar grille and front fender portholes. These "VentiPorts," were first introduced in 1949 and last year were just used for the Ultra model. Chrome-plated portholes on each front fender, they add to function and style, giving the vehicle a certain look and allowing additional air to flow through the engine compartment.

The 2005 Buick Park Avenue is a near-luxury class sedan offered in two models: base and Ultra.

Interior Features
The four-door 2005 Buick Park Avenue sedan is long and elegant, and both models offer a generous range of standard amenities. A number of optional extras, stand- alone and package options, are available to personalize your purchase and add luxury where desired.

The Base model offers standard air conditioning with dual-zone automatic climate controls, leather upholstery on 10-way power front seats and a matching leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, cruise control, power windows and locks and so on.

Despite this good collection of standards, an upgrade to the Ultra is a true upgrade with a sweet collection of enhancements; the OnStar system with one-year of service, woodgrain for the steering wheel, heated front seats, memory settings for the driver seat, mirrors, climate controls and radio, heated power mirrors with turn-signal lights and automatic day/night mirrors, and upgraded electronics: audio system, trip computer, universal garage-door opener and more.

Exterior Features
On the outside, moving from Base to Ultra also has some real extras; rain-sensing windshield wipers combine with low profile 235/55R17 tires on chrome alloy wheels with a road-hugging Gran Touring suspension to add to the performance and style, chrome exhaust tips and chrome accents add to the exterior offerings. In an added bonus, the last 3000 Park Avenues are to be Special Edition models with special logos, unique trim and wheels, and available black-and-platinum exterior- instantly collectible.

Performance
Both the 2005 Park Avenue engine options are powerful V6 powerhouses with plenty of passing punch for control and comfort on the highways and byways. However, moving up to the Ultra gives a supercharged V6 that ups the torque and horsepower substantially. The HP rises from 205 to 240 at 5200rpm while torque moves from 230 lb-ft at 4000 rpm to 280 at 3600. These motor choices offer between 18 and 29 mpg (city/hwy).

StabiliTrak antiskid, with specially tuned suspension and rear stabilizer bars, the Park Avenue will hug the road and provide a luxurious high-performance ride. Both the base model and the Ultra have 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive for slip-free shifting. The base model is fitted with a 3.8-liter Series II V6 engine. It can generate 205 horsepower and 230 lb-ft of torque.

Safety and Security
Antilock four-wheel disc brakes are standard. Other safety features include dual front airbags, front side airbags and daytime running lights. GPS navigation system is available as an optional extra.
