Ford Extends 2002 Summer Specials; Announces 2003 Incentives

DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 16, 2002 – DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 16, 2002 – Ford is extending its 2002 model sell-down event and enhancing rebates on the Ford Mustang, Windstar and Explorer models. Customer cash up to $3,500 or 0.0% financing is available on most 2002 Ford brand models until Sept. 30, depending on the contract length.

Financing rates for the Ford Mustang, four-door Explorer and two-door Explorer Sport have been reduced to 0.0% for contracts up to 60 months. Customer cash on the Ford Mustang, Windstar, Explorer Sport and Explorer SportTrac also has been increased.

"Ford's summer sell-down event is in full swing," said Steve Lyons, Ford Division president. "Our program continues to offer customers great deals on remaining 2002 models."

For 2003 models, $500 to $1,000 customer cash or financing rates of 3.9 to 5.9 percent are available on most models. The 2003 Thunderbird, Escape and Expedition are excluded.

Ford will continue its television and print We Will Rock You summer sell-down advertising campaign.

Lease Loyalty Bonus: For returning lease customers, loyalty bonuses of $500 to $2,000 are available until Sept. 30 on most Ford brand models. The lease loyalty bonuses can be applied toward a new 2002 or 2003 lease or retail purchase and can be combined with the customer cash rebates or financing rates being offered. Notes: National incentives are effective through Sept. 30, 2002 but subject to change. Thunderbird, SVT, and Harley Davidson models are excluded. Changes from the prior announcement are noted in bold. A combined customer cash and reduced financing rate option is available on most models. Regional programs may vary.
