Volvo Announces Pricing for the all-new 2004.5
Priced $510 (2.1 percent) less than the current S40, the all-new S40 combines everything today's car buyer is looking for: exceptional value, vibrant design and style, exhilarating driving characteristics and class-leading safety. New from the ground up, the 2004.5 Volvo S40 sets the safety standard in its class - both active and passive - and represents an evolution of the, "You think and then you build" theme that began with the award winning XC90 sport-utility vehicle. It's all part of Volvo's Intelligent Vehicle Architecture (VIVA), a unique approach to building a car that integrates everything from its crashworthiness, to its design and exciting driving characteristics. This is possible due to several interacting units, including an extremely stiff body, a new frontal structure and Volvo's Side Impact Protection System (SIPS). "As with our entire lineup, the all-new S40 continues Volvo's commitment to offering great value, while enhancing safety, performance, style and comfort," commented VCNA President and CEO, Vic Doolan. "Pricing the all-new S40 at around $24,000 opens up our product line to a whole new customer base that has, until now, never considered a Volvo." In July 2004 the S40 lineup will broaden its appeal with the addition of a less expensive 5-speed manual version. Optional electronically controlled Haldex all-wheel drive and a close ratio 6-speed manual transmission will also be offered. The V50, a sportswagon version of the all-new S40, is set to go on sale at the same time. VCNA provides marketing, sales, service, technology and training to Volvo automobile retailers in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Prices do not include destination charges of $685.
