2005 Chrysler Sebring Sedan
The Chrysler Sebring Sedan is the core vehicle in a Sebring offering
that has many in the industry watching and trying to duplicate it. Affordability
is combined with many Sebring choices to give real vehicle solutions for
consumers whether they are seeking a sedan, coupe or convertible. The
way this family of cars does it by offering great choices of trim level,
with different exteriors, interiors and performance profiles.
The 2005 Chrysler Sebring Sedan is no exception to this rule, offering
as it does, two engine choices, a variety of exterior details and a range
of interior luxuries.
Available Models
The 2005 Chrysler Sebring Sedan has a Base Model with many features rising
through Touring and Limited versions.
Interior Features
The largest of the Sebrings, this mid-size car has real legroom for the
three adults that can be accommodated in the back seat. A 108 inch wheelbase
combines with a height of 70.6 inches and an overall width of 54.9 inches.
This year boasts similar styling to last year's versions but the trim
levels and standards have changed somewhat. However, up front styling
is unaltered with the driver's cockpit filled with convenient features
to make the ride more pleasant. For example, round analog instruments
are tucked beneath an arched cowl and rimmed with chrome bezels.
The up-level Limited comes with eight-way power-adjustable seats on leather
upholstery, previously an add-on extra and available this year as an extra
on lesser trim levels. A reclining passenger seat and split (60/40)-folding
seatbacks allow access into the trunk, handy when carrying long items.
A leather-wrapped steering wheel with radio controls and a premium sound
system also feature in the interior standards for the top-level Limited.
Navigation system and sunroof packages are available as extras.
Exterior Features
All three 2005 Chrysler Sebring vehicles have few exterior changes this
year as they built upon their major 2003 look renovation. The sedan has
a front nose that focuses attention on the Chrysler badge and on Chrysler's
signature oval intake port. Polycarbonate-lensed headlamps wrap around
the front corners, while round fog lamps (on the Limited) flank the grille.
Alloy and chrome alloy wheels, a ground-hugging touring suspension and
fatter, lower-profile tires round out the exterior styling changes as
you rise through the trim levels on the Sebring Sedan. Metallic and Pearlcoat
paint-jobs are available as an added styling bonus for the Sedans.
Performance
The performance profile choices are one of the things that makes the Sebring
such a well-rounded offering, attractive to many consumers. The Base model
comes equipped with a 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder engine that delivers 150 horsepower
at 5200 rpm and 167 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm, a respectable power offering
that makes for decent passing punch at highway speeds. For those who need
more kick, a 2.7-liter V6 churns out 200 horsepower at 5800 rpm and 190
lb-ft of torque at 4850 rpm and it comes standard on the Touring and Limited
models. 4-speed automatic transmission with optional manual-shift capability
for the Limited version does the shifting.
Rack-and-pinion steering gives the 2005 Chrysler Sebring sedan crisp,
neutral handling with a couple of available suspension choices both similar.
The Base has a fully independent suspension with a short and long A-arm
arrangement up front and a multi-link setup in the rear. Touring Suspension,
standard above the Base model, gets a rear anti-roll bar for reduced understeer.
Safety and Security
Standard safety equipment on the 2005 Chrysler Sebring sedan includes
dual front airbags, three-point front seatbelts with adjustable anchors
and the rear seat child seat anchor system (LATCH). Antilock brakes, curtain
side airbags and traction control can be had through the Protection Package
offered for the Sedan.
