2005 Lincoln Town Car

The Lincoln Town Car has long been a key player in the full-size luxury car market and the 2005 Lincoln Town Car is no exception. Long, elegant and sophisticated, the Town Cart has remained constant. Despite the introduction of new, segment-bending vehicles and compact coupes, the Town Car continues to provides a roomy interior, an abundance of power and tremendous luxury. For 2005, a few changes include interior and exterior color combinations, options improvement and state-of-the-art airbag safety innovation. Available Models
The 2005 Lincoln Town Car is offered in different trim levels this year with Signature, Signature Limited and Signature L versions. Extended wheels-base models make the car a popular choice for limousine services.

Interior Features
The 2005 Lincoln Town Car offers significant interior room and luxury on all models. Standard-length models have a wheelbase of 215.4 inches, while extended-length models stretch things out six inches for a total wheelbase of 221.4 inches.

Many standard premium amenities fill up some of this abundant room. For example, Signature L models have such features as a dual-media sound system, premium leather seating surfaces, 8-way power driver and passenger seats with power lumbar support, dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control, an overhead console with compass and a steering wheel with audio/climate controls. The up-level Signature model adds a full power trunk with key fob open and close, a memory system (driver's seat, pedals, mirrors) and heated front seats.

Options include Lincolns' DVD-based navigation system with 6-disc CD changer, and this year, THX-Certified audio, Sirius satellite radio and a power moonroof.

Exterior Features
All Town Car models have 17- by 7-inch euro-flange aluminum wheels, which feature wheel-balancing weights mounted out of sight on the inside rim. Fourteen-spoke machined aluminum wheels are standard, with optional nine-spoke chrome-finished wheels available on Ultimate models.

Performance
Shifting gears in the 2005 Lincoln Town Car is assigned to a four-speed automatic system mated to a 4.6-liter V8 engine that delivers 239 horsepower at 4900 rpm and 287 lb-ft of torque at 4100 rpm.

The rear-wheel drive Lincoln Town Car has a 3.27:1 final drive ratio. All-speed traction control is standard on both models, improving traction during all sorts of weather conditions.

Safety and Security
The Lincoln Town Car has some interesting safety enhancements for 2005. Occupant weight seat sensor and seat track position sensors for the front passenger seats combine with new front crash severity sensors to allow airbag deployment that is a match to the crash and passenger size and position. Standard safety features include safety package includes dual front airbags, antilock 4-wheel disc brakes, side airbags, extended rear park assist and an automatic parking brake release.
