Visit Ford for more information on the Ford Thunderbird.

The 2005 Ford Thunderbird returns to bask in the glow of critical acclaim it has received from everyone that sees its cool, evocative styling. What's more, for open-air driving, few models can top it. The classic convertible is 50 years old and celebrating the fact Ford has come up with new colors, inside and out, and new aluminum trim for the doors and centerstack.

With a heritage that continues to be displayed, the roadster has perennial style, loads of power and all sorts of interior roominess. These three things (plus a few others, of course), continue to define the Thunderbird. O to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds doesn't hurt.

Available Models
The 2005 Ford Thunderbird is offered in two models: Deluxe and Premium but the Premium just adds heated seats and alloy wheels.

Interior Features
The only unfortunate thing about the Thunderbird's design is that only two people get to experience it from the inside. The rest have to admire from afar.

The Ford Thunderbird comes with standards that include air conditioning with dual-zone automatic climate controls (tough for a two-seater), a power tilt/telescope leather-wrapped steering wheel with radio controls, cruise control, leather upholstery on 6-way power bucket seats, power mirrors, windows and door locks, remote keyless entry, AM/FM/CD with an in-dash 6-disc changer, a power convertible top, universal garage-door opener and automatic headlights.

Options include style and other add-ons like the Light Sand Appearance Package that offers a special trim prominently displaying the color, plus cream-colored gauges.

Exterior Features
The two-door Ford dThunderbird is available with a power-folding soft top with a heated glass rear window or with a removable hardtop with trademark porthole windows.

Performance
Under the hood of the 2005 Ford Thunderbird is just the right amount of power to get your spine tingling. The engine is an aluminum 3.9-liter V8. It gives the rear-wheel drive convertible 280 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 286 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm.

Built for high-speed performance, the engine features a coil-on-plug ignition with platinum-tipped spark plugs, low-friction pistons and dual exhausts.
5-speed automatic transmission is standard. However, the 2005 Thunderbird can also be fitted with Ford's SelectShift feature, which blends manual shifting with a traditional automatic system. This setup features a one-piece die-cast aluminum case for reduced weight.

Safety and Security
The 2005 Ford Thunderbird comes with driver and passenger front and side airbags-the first Ford convertible to come equipped with combination head-and-chest side airbags. Other safety and security features include an anti-theft system, Ford's Smart Locks system, the LATCH child seat system, a perimeter alarm with an LED indicator and a glow-in-the-dark emergency trunk release handle.
