The standard transmission is a quick-shifting five speed manual with direct 1:1 fifth gear.

Each BMW M Roadster is equipped with safety standards such as all-season traction control with limited slip differential, dynamic stability control, and four-wheel ABS brakes. Further measures include a two-stage driver air bag, two-stage passenger air bag, front side impact air bags, central locking system, child seat automatic safety belt locking device, and coded driveaway protection.
