Available Models
In addition to another line up of heavy-duty Ram 2500 and 3500 models, the light duty Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup Truck is available in two-wheel and four-wheel drive models with regular and Quad Cab configurations. There are several equipment levels - ST, SLT, Sport, and SLT Plus - and you can choose either a Regular Cab or Quad Cab.

Interior Features
The interiors of the Regular and Quad Cab models are the most spacious in the industry. Power adjustable pedals with automatic transmission are optional on the SLT and SLT Plus. There are new, more comfortable seats and additional interior storage space this year, including a standard business console.

The SLT and SLT Plus Quad Cabs feature a 60/40 split folding rear seat to accommodate extra cargo, and these models also have improved storage compartments under the rear seats and steel fold-flat, load floor. The Ram 1500 has excellent air conditioning, with dual-zone climate control in the SLT Plus.

Exterior Features
The redesigned appearance of the Dodge Ram 1500 varies from one equipment group to another, and new for this year is a roomier, stiffer body structure. A broad, sloping hood and sculpted fender combination contributes to the rugged outward appearance. To increase cab space, the bed length of the short box models has been reduced. Also new for 2002 is a boat-cleat style cargo tie-down in the pickup box.

New wide-opening forward-hinged rear doors with outside door handles and full roll-down windows also make an appearance this year. High-efficiency halogen head lights, trailer tow outside mirrors, and a structural rear bumper round out the list of exterior features.

Performance
The Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup Truck is equipped three engine choices. First up is a next-generation 3.7-litre Magnum SOHC, SMPI eight-cylinder engine with 175 horsepower. A next-generation 4.7-litre Magnum SOHC, SMPI eight-cylinder engine that produces 235 horsepower follows, and the third is a 5.9-litre Magnum eight-cylinder with 245 horsepower.

The standard transmission is four-speed automatic, and the all-new 45RFE transmission option lends itself to a more responsive, quiet ride. Both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive models are available.

Safety and Security
The Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup Truck features standard safety measures such as adjustable front head restraints, and enhanced interior head impact protection. Optional side curtain air bags are available. An all-new braking system features huge four-wheel disc brakes, and four-wheel ABS brakes are an option.
