Acura's luxury sedan is like a Honda gone to finishing school. The time-tested engineering of some of the most dependable cars on the road lives on beneath a new level of comfort, style and boldness.

Poise is a word Acura likes to use when speaking of the RL. It is something they strove hard to create with the first RL and then maintain with forthcoming models. The 2004 Acura RL is given a number of practical technological applications to improve driver awareness. It was test driven at high speeds on some of the most demanding roads in the world in order to keep the ride stable and smooth no matter what the situation. The result is the type of poise Acura envisions for its RL sedan.

Available Models
The 2004 Acura RL is offered in one model trim.

Interior Features
The refined interior environment of the new 2004 Acura RL is subtle and practical. The four-door, five-passenger sedan doesn't overwhelm you with features and gadgets. Rather, they are integrated into a seamless, flowing design.

Among the most notable features inside are those that are both technologically advanced and user-friendly. A standard Acura Navigation System now has a voice recognition system for ultimate ease of use. And XM Satellite Radio, with a digital signal and a satellite network of 100 stations, lets you pick up music all across the country.

There are no factory options with the 2004 Acura RL, but you probably won't need any. There are many standard features to keep you occupied, including leather upholstery with a wood interior trim, air conditioning with front and rear automatic climate controls, a power tilt/telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel with radio controls, the OnStar System with one-year service (roadside assistance, emergency services; other services available), heated front bucket seats and a Bose AM/FM/cassette player with in-dash 6-disc CD changer.

Exterior Features
The painting process alone in the 2004 Acura RL's construction gives you an idea of the attention to detail used at Acura. Four separate coating operations were applied, followed b y four baking procedures.

Performance
The sole engine powering the 2004 Acura RL is a tried and tested one. It is a 3.5-liter V6 with 225 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 231 lb-ft of torque at 2800 rpm. This engine is mated to an electronically controlled 4-speed automatic transmission with its own microprocessor for seamless shifting.

The Acura RL's four-wheel independent double wishbone suspension has been modified for better handling and cornering ability. The system now features thicker front and rear stabilizer bars and higher damper, spring and front upper-arm-bushing rates.

Safety and Security
Poise also refers to the confidence of knowing you are safe and secure. With the RL, this is a direct result of its safety features, which include traction control, dual front airbags, front side airbags, antilock 4-wheel disc brakes, an antiskid system, an emergency inside trunk release and fog lights.
