Visit Volvo for more information on the Volvo S80.

The changes abound with the flagship sedan of the always-impressive Volvo fleet. Most noteworthy of them all is the introduction of a new all-wheel drive 2.5T model. It features the same Haldex multi-plate clutch found on the Volvo S60 AWD and the XC70. The result is the security of on-demand power to either the front or rear wheels.

Also new to the 2004 Volvo S80 is the availability of the Volvo FOUR-C chassis. It is an option on all but the base model. FOUR-C provides two chassis-tuning two modes, which can be accessed from a single switch on the center console. The default mode is Comfort, providing optimal ride quality. Pushing the button selects the Sport mode for a slightly sportier ride with reduced body roll and rebound.

When you add up all the changes, you can easily see for yourself that 2004 will be a good year for the S80 sedan.

Available Models
The 2004 Volvo S80 is offered in four models: 2.9, 2.5T AWD, T6 and T6 Premier.

Interior Features
The 2004 Volvo S80 is a large, four-door sedan that treats passenger comfort as importantly as safety. The S80 seats five without any difficulty whatsoever.

You can run the range of interior relaxation with S80 models. All are in the luxury class, so you can expect a great number of features no matter what trim you buy. At the top of the line, the T6 Premier comes with such items as leather upholstery, heated front and rear seats, a DVD player and a TV tuner, 2 rear screens and wireless headphones.

A handy navigation system and a rear-obstacle detection system are optional.

Exterior Features
Rain-sensing wipers are offered with upper levels trims this year. Optional for all models is an exterior coated with special paint.

Performance
The base 2.9 trim features a 2.9-liter inline 6-cylinder engine that produces 194 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 207 lb-ft of torque at 4200 rpm. It uses a 4-speed automatic transmission.

The 2.5T AWD is the sole S80 model with all-wheel drive, and it has its own engine. It is a 2.5-liter turbocharged I5 with 208 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 236 lb-ft of torque at 1500 rpm.

T6 and T6 Premier models have a 2.9-liter turbocharged I6 with 268 horsepower at 5400 rpm and 280 lb-ft of torque at 1800 rpm. Their 4-speed automatic transmission features a manual-shift mode.

Safety and Security
Standard safety features include dual front airbags, front side airbags, curtain side airbags, traction control, front-seat active head restraints and antilock 4-wheel disc brakes.
