2003 Acura RL
The flagship of the Acura line, the 2003 Acura 3.5 RL has seen a number
of refinements that highlight and enhance the already luxurious performance
sedan.
Last year the horsepower was increased and the suspension retuned but
this year they have looked at the fittings and features to optimize the
style and selection available to the consumer.
Available Models
The 2003 Acura RL has one very high trim level and one model, designed
to be a perfect whole as is. Optional extras and major equipment packages
are available to support specific customer's desires and requirements.
Interior Features
The 2003 Acura RL interior has a great many plush extras and details that
demonstrate the care taken on this car's design. For example, an elegant
cabin environment boasts abundant interior room and leather-trimmed 8-way
adjustable front seats. Burled camphor wood graces the instrument panel,
which includes a standard Acura Navigation System. For 2003, three new
wood trim colors: Auburn Camphor, Golden Camphor and Black Camphor, and
one new interior color, Slate, are available.
Bose audio with a 6CD changer and automatic climate control are highlights
of a generous standard equipment package.
Exterior Features
The 2003 Acura RL style refinements involve exterior changes as well.
The body, featuring a handsome long, sloping front hood and short rear
deck, is available in three new colors - Carbon Gray Pearl, Polar Blue
Metallic, and Champagne Mist Pearl. Redesigned, alloy wheels and a new
taillight design with a clear turn signal lens are other exterior changes.
Performance
Under the RL's hood a new 24-valve 3.5-liter V6 engine delivers 225 hp
at 5200, and 231 lb-ft of torque at 2800. This powerplant produces and
offers up its pep quite readily making for aggressive agility and merging
power.
The 4-speed automatic transmission with Grade Logic Control, that this
engine is coupled with, has special features that allow it to adapt to
road conditions and hills. It will avoid unnecessary shifting and gear
"hunting".
A race-bred, double-wishbone suspension is tuned to deliver maximum handling
responsiveness and stability while maintaining excellent ride quality
while the power steering is speed sensitive to provide maximum road feel
and handling control.
Safety and Security
OnStar's 24 hour roadside emergency assistance and communications service
is an important part of the safety and security equipment but it is complemented
by both active and passive safety technologies. For example, the airbag
system is advanced and comprehensive while mechanical safeguards, like
antilock brakes, traction and antiskid systems are standard equipment.
