2004 Chevrolet Corvette

For the past two years, the Corvette has received a "Best Buy" distinction in the sports car class from Consumer Guide. Unless something drastic changes, the 2004 Chevrolet Corvette should continue this success. In short, the Corvette keeps winning the title because it has outstanding power and performance features, a unique style, interior comfort and a reasonable price tag.

Last year, Corvette marked a half-century of achievement with a special 50th Anniversary Edition. For 2004, it presents special commemorative editions for the coupe, convertible and Z06. These flashy models pay homage to the wildly successful C5-R racing program.

Available Models
The 2004 Chevrolet Corvette is available as a hatchback coupe with a removable roof panel, a convertible with a manual fabric top and heated rear glass window and as a fixed-roof Z06 hardtop, plus the special commemorative editions.

Interior Features
All Corvettes seat two people in lush bucket seats. The 2004 Chevrolet Corvette truly has a racecar's feel on the inside with its clean gauge cluster and dashboard.

Standard features on the 2004 Corvette include leather upholster, 6-way power seats, a center console, heated power mirrors, power windows and door locks, remote keyless entry and a Bose AM/FM/CD player. Z06 models have a unique head-up instrumentation display.

A clean, Shale interior comes with each of the three commemorative editions.

Exterior Features
Commemorative edition convertibles get a shale convertible top to match the interior. Le Mans Blue paint, special badges and polished wheels help distinguish all commemorative edition models. The Z06 Commemorative Edition also receives a lightweight carbon fiber hood.

Performance
Advanced technology and powerful engines characterize the 2004 Corvette. Coupes and convertibles have either 4-speed automatic transmission or 6-speed manual mated to a 5.7-liter V8 engine with 350 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 360 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm (375 lb-ft of torque with manual transmission).

The Z06 is even more impressive. It features a 5.7-liter V8 engine with 405 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 400 lb-ft of torque at 4800 rpm, mated to a standard 6-speed manual transmission. For 2004, the Z06 has revised shock valving for an even better ride.

Other features that contribute to the Corvette's legendary driving experience include Magnetic Selective Ride Control, Goodyear EMT "run-flat" tires (coupe and convertible), active handling and a rear transaxle.

Safety and Security
An advanced safety system is needed to counter the type of power produced by these engines, and that's just what the Corvette is given. Electronic traction control, limited-slip differential, antilock 4-wheel disc brakes, an antiskid system, dual front airbags and a tire-pressure monitor are all standard.
