2003 Ford ZX2
Above all the else, the 2003 Ford ZX2 is affordable. It is designed as
a budget sporty coupe for people who need a reliable vehicle at a low
cost. Value doesn't mean shoddy construction however, as the 2003 Ford
ZX2 is given enough performance features to make it no slouch on the road.
The engine is strong and efficient, offering good fuel economy and low
emissions. And with a varied selection available, customers can stick
with the inexpensive basic configuration or add on the features with uplevel
models.
Available Models
The two-door 2003 Ford ZX2 coupe is offered in three models: Standard,
Deluxe and Premium.
Interior Features
The 2003 Ford ZX2 has enough room for four people. The standard reclining
front bucket seats are new-and-improved for 2003, featuring unique diamond-stitched
inserts. Standard models offer power steering, cloth upholstery, power
mirrors, AM/FM/cassette, digital clock, tachometer, rear defogger and
more. The Deluxe adds air conditioning, tilt leather-wrapped steering
wheel, cruise control, AM/FM/CD player, map lights and floormats, while
the Premium has power windows and door locks and remote keyless entry.
There is also a good selection of optional equipment for owners to add
to their ZX2 if they so desire. Premium owners can deck out the interior
with leather upholstery, while both Premium and Deluxe owners can throw
on a power sunroof.
Exterior Features
The ZX2's front fascia is given fog lamps for a more aggressive look for
2003. Adding to the overall sleekness of the design are color-coordinated
polycarbonate front and rear bumpers and solar-tinted, flush-mounted glass.
The ZX2 is also equipped with a rear spoiler and 15-inch wheels to give
it that extra mark of cool.
Performance
The ZX2 gets you from point to point time and time again thanks to its
quiet, industrious motor. All models are equipped with a 4-cyl 2.0-liter
engine that gives out 130 horsepower at 5300 rpm and 135 lb-ft of torque
at 4500 rpm. 5-speed manual transmission and 4-speed automatic are both
available. With value and the environment in mind, both transmissions
provide good fuel ratings. 5-speed manuals get 26/33 mpg (city/hwy), while
4-speed automatics get 25/33 mpg.
Safety and Security
Safety is designed right into the frame of the ZX2. It has a "safety
cell" construction, which manages impact energy to help enhance occupant
protection. Carefully engineered crumple zones allow specific sections
of the vehicle's body to deform progressively, diverting energy away from
the occupants. Tough steel structural members and side-door intrusion
beams aide in side-impact protection. In addition, antilock brakes are
offered as one of the available add-on options.
