2003 GMC Yukon Denali
The 2003 GMC Yukon XL Denali is the extra-large, extended version of
the Denali. It retains all the features that combine to make the Denali
an exceptional vehicle within the premium full-size SUV class, and adds
more than a foot of extra room. The 2003 GMC Yukon XL Denali is given
upgrades across the board, resulting in the most prestigious model that
has ever rolled off the line. Everything from interior comfort to safety
and performance are improved, as the Denali continues to move forward
with the times.
Available Models
Because the 2003 GMC Yukon XL Denali comes with so many features in its
standard package; there is space enough for only one model in the lineup.
Interior Features
The XL Denali seats up to nine people. With a wheelbase of 130 inches,
there is plenty of room on the inside for everyone involved, with enough
storage area in the trunk to hold the rest of the goods. Leather upholstery
is standard, as are a host of new features, including new seats, a redesigned
instrument panel, a new driver information center and eight-button steering
wheel controls. Also included is the highly convenient OnStar system,
given a standard link on the steering wheel.
A new tri-zone automatic climate control system heats up and cools down
the XL Denali remarkably quick. Passengers and driver can set the temperature
to differing levels, depending on their wish. About the only feature not
standard is a DVD system, which is available as an option.
Exterior Features
For 2003, the XL Denali is available in a new color: Carbon Metallic.
Also new are body-colored exterior rearview mirrors that improve safety
and visibility with power-fold, curb-tilt capability and integrated turn-signal
indicators.
Performance
The XL Denali is given plenty of power to deal with its larger frame.
The standard engine is a Vortec 6.0-liter V8 with 320 horsepower at 5000
rpm and 365lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. All-wheel drive is standard, as
is 4-speed automatic transmission. The fuel economy on the XL Denali has
been improved with a new transfer case, while power adjustable brake and
accelerator pedals provide more comfortable, safer vehicle operation for
shorter drivers by adjusting 2.95 inches rearward.
The StabiliTrak system is standard with Denali models. Using sophisticated
sensors that monitor the vehicle's suspension, steering and braking systems,
StabiliTrak compares the driver's intended path with the vehicle's actual
path, and selectively adjusts engine torque and any of the four brakes
to help bring the vehicle under control.
Safety and Security
The 2003 Yukon XL Denali also sees improvements in safety. A new passenger-sensing
airbag system monitors the size of occupants and deactivates in certain
conditions where deployment would cause injury. For stopping, the XL Denali
boasts HydroBoost hydraulic power, four-wheel disc, four-wheel antilock
brakes with dual piston calipers, Dynamic Rear Proportioning and brake
proportioning differential valve.
