2002 Toyota Sequoia
Introduced to the full-size sport utility vehicle market last year, the
powerful Toyota Sequoia SUV beats some of the toughest competition when
it comes to interior space and exterior size. Not only does its size present
a factor, it is also packed with a wide array of features that make it a
perfect choice for busy families or for work.
Available Models
Toyota offers up two tough models for 2002 - the Sequoia SR5
SUV and the Sequoia Limited SUV. The Limited model takes all the performance,
luxury, and safety features of the SR5 and loads on more amenities.
Interior Features
Within the extremely spacious eight-passenger interior of the
Sequoia SR5 are standard features such as ten cupholders, door storage
pockets, grocery bag hooks, and cargo net hooks. Luxuries are listed as
power windows, power door locks, AM/FM stereo with cassette player and
CD player with six speakers, cruise control, and automatic climate control.
The second row seats split 60/40 and fold, recline, and tumble, while
the third row seat splits 50/50 and also folds, reclines, and tumbles.
A power sliding moonroof, leather upholstery, and a premium JBL audio
system are available as options.
The Sequoia Limited highlights dual front and rear air conditioning system,
leather seating, MBL audio system with ten speakers, HomeLink, compass,
and trip computer.
Exterior Features
Each Toyota Sequoia bears a striking and old, yet sophisticated
exterior and is equipped with dual power outside mirrors. The Sequoia
Limited model sports dual heated power outside mirrors, roof rack, and
front fog lights. Seven body colors are available with contrasting bumpers
and overfenders in three different colors.
Performance
Under the hood of the Sequoia SUV looms a 4.7-litre i-Force
engine that rips with 240 horsepower yet maintains an ultra-low emission
vehicle rating. You may opt for either the two-wheel drive configuration
of four-wheel drive for more challenging weather and terrain. The fuel
economy rating checks in at 14/18 mpg (city/hwy) for two-wheel drive models
and 14/17 mpg (city/hwy) for the four-wheel drive variety.
Each model is equipped with a standard four-speed automatic transmission
with overdrive. Fully boxed frame rails from front to rear lend to a marked
reduction in vibration, and the five link coil spring rear suspension
with rear stabilizer bar contributes further to a smooth and quiet ride.
Safety and Security
The Sequoia SUV is built with traction control, vehicle skid
control, and anti-lock brakes with electronic brake distribution. Safety
standards continue inside with head impact protections structure along
the entire length of the roof side-panel section, a passenger aid bag,
driver air bag, and side impact air bags.
There are also three-point seatbelts at all eight seating positions,
head restraints, child safety locks, and child seat tethers and anchors.
The vehicle is bolstered with massive side impact door beams, reinforced
rocker support of all four window pillars, reinforced upper cabin frame,
and a front and rear crumple zone design.
