2002 Toyota Highlander

The Highlander was introduced last year and has proven itself to be quite a success. This is actually the second SUV in the mid-size sport utility vehicle class, providing you with a wide range of diversity and choice so that you can select the vehicle that suits your requirements the best. The Highlander tends to the needs of those with an eye towards image and versatility.

Available Models
The five-passenger 2002 Highlander is offered in either a two-wheel drive model or a four-wheel drive model for those of you who require tougher performance from a sophisticated vehicle. The Highlander is absolutely packed with everything you could possibly need for work, family, or play.

Interior Features
Each Highlander is stacked high with standards such as air conditioning with air filter, deluxe AM/FM stereo with cassette and CD players routed to six powerful speakers, cruise control, tilt steering wheel, two power outlets, overhead console, two cupholders, four bottle holders, grocery bag hooks, and map pockets everywhere.

A Limited Package adds digital climate control, premium JBL sound system with eight speakers, remote keyless entry system, and outside temperature gauge. The list of amenities continues with a center console, illuminated vanity mirrors, chestnut grain interior trim, chrome inside door handles and shifter stalk, genuine leather-wrapped gearshift knob and steering wheel, and a handy cargo area tonneau cover.

Exterior Features
The Toyota Highlander is available with privacy glass on the rear side and back windows, a roof rack, color-keyed front and rear mudguards, color-keyed power heated outside mirrors, and daytime running lights. The Limited models offer up six-spoke aluminum alloy wheels, integrated fog lamps, and a sporty color-keyed rear spoiler.

Performance
In the performance department, the Highlander is available with two different choices. The all-aluminum, 2.4-litre, DOHC, 16-valve, four-cylinder VVT-i engine produces 155 horsepower and 163 lb-ft of torque. Up to the next level, the all-aluminum, 3.0-litre, DOHC, 24-valve, six-cylinder VVT-i engine pumps out 220 horsepower and 222 lb-ft of torque for outstanding power and speed.

Again, two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive models are available. Standard transmission is a four-speed automatic with snow mode, and each Highlander is equipped with ventilated front disc brakes and solid rear disc brakes. The suspension is comprised of front independent MacPherson struts with L-shaped control arms, low-pressure gas sealed shock absorbers and stabilizer bar, and dual link MacPherson strut rear suspension with stabilizer bar.

Safety and Security
The Toyota Highlander is equipped with safety standards such as ABS brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist, dual front SRS air bags, adjustable head restraints, three-point seatbelts at all seating positions, child safety locks in the rear seating area, and child seat tethers and anchors. Side impact air bags and limited slip differential are optional on the four-wheel drive models.
