2002 Ford Expedition
The new 2002 Ford Expedition SUV is designed to be tough, highly functional,
and smart - all the while surrounding its passengers in tremendous comfort.
Its rugged appearance is an indication of its gritty performance and outstanding
capabilities, both as a casual and working vehicle.
Available Models
The 2002 line up boasts two exceptional models - the 2002 Ford
Expedition XLT and the Expedition Eddie Bauer - each differing on the
luxury and performance fronts according to what you have in mind for the
use of your tough new vehicle.
Interior Features
Inside the 2002 Ford Expedition XLT is cloth upholstery, a
40/60 split folding rear seat to accommodate extra cargo, and power adjustable
pedals. Optional features include a six-way power driver's seat, or cloth
captain's chairs.
The 2002 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer boasts leather seating, six-way
power driver's seat, and memory feature for the driver's seat and pedal.
The Eddie Bauer also makes second-row reclining captain chairs available,
and a third-row removable bench seat is a standard feature. You can even
add a rear seat entertainment system with 6.8-inch LCD screen and VHS
player to keep the troops occupied on a long journey.
Exterior Features
The XLT model headlines a rear chrome step bumper, and 4WD
models have two front hooks. The vehicle sports a bright grille (Eddie
Bauer has a color-keyed grille), and both models are equipped with privacy
glass. Back to the XLT, the Comfort and Convenience Group features dual
heated power outside mirrors and sixteen-inch aluminum wheels with all-terrain
tires. The XLT No Boundaries Group adds a black monochromatic exterior,
seventeen-inch five-spoke wheels, and chrome accents.
Meanwhile, up another level to the XLT Premium Sport Appearance Group
we find seventeen-inch, ten-spoke cast aluminum wheels, side step bars,
front fog lamps and skid plates (the latter on the 4WD model).
Taking it up another notch, the Eddie Bauer Premier Group sports illuminated
running boards as well as seventeen-inch ten-spoke wheels.
Performance
The standard powerhouse of the Expedition XLT is comprised
of a 4.6-litre, SOHC Triton V8 engine that churns out 232 horsepower and
291 lbs-ft of torque. Optional on the XLT and standard on the Eddie Bauer
is an outstanding 5.4-litre Triton V8 engine with an impressive output
of 260 horsepower and 350 lbs-ft of torque.
A smooth ride can be attributed to the five-link rear suspension, while
the limited slip differential optimizes control and traction. A four-corner
air suspension is available to automatically adjust the vehicle's height
according to its load; it even kneels down to lower the step-in height
to make it easier to get in and out.
Safety and Security
The Ford Expedition is equipped with a passenger depowered
air bag, driver depowered air bag, and optional side impact airbags. Other
safety standards include three-point seatbelts, remote keyless entry system,
theft deterrent system, and illuminated entry. Each vehicle comes with
a rear wiper and washer, and the Reverse Sensing System warns you of obstacles
up to six feet away from the rear of your SUV to avoid accidents and to
facilitate parking.
