Available Models
The 2003 Lexus IS 300 is available as either a 4-door sedan or a 4-door
wagon called the SportCross. The sedan can be purchased with either manual
or automatic transmission, while the SportCross wagon is available with
automatic transmission.
Interior Features
Like all Lexus vehicles, the inside of the 2003 Lexus IS 300 does not
disappoint. Standard interior features include cruise control, an interior
air filter, air conditioning with automatic climate control, remote keyless
entry, and an AM/FM/cassette with in-dash 6-disc CD changer. Other standard
features on this car are a tachometer, map lights, a tilt, leather-wrapped
steering wheel, and cloth upholstery. The SportCross wagon also comes
equipped with a fold-down front passenger seat, and a split folding rear
seat, to accommodate extra cargo.
The VK Power and Leather package, available for both the sedan and the
SportCross wagon, gives the consumer the option of leather and ultrasuede
upholstery, as well as 8-way power front seats.
Exterior Features
Both the sedan and the SportCross wagon are equipped with high-intensity-discharge
headlights, and alloy 17-inch wheels. The SportCross wagon also has a
rear spoiler, and a rear wiper/washer. A power sunroof is an option on
all Lexus IS 300 models.
Performance
The engine housed in the 2003 Lexus IS 300 is a 3.0-litre inline 6-cylinder
engine that delivers 215 hp at 5800 rpm, and 218 lbs-ft of torque at 3800
rpm. The sedan's manual transmission is 5-speed, while its automatic transmission
is 5-speed with manual shift capability. The SportCross wagon also has
a 5-speed automatic transmission with manual shift capability. Fuel efficiency
on both the sedan and SportCross wagon has been measured at 18/25 mpg
(city/highway).
Safety and Security
The safety and security features on the Lexus IS 300 live up to those
offered on other Lexus vehicles. Standard on both the sedan and the SportCross
wagon are daytime running lights, 4-wheel disc brakes, brake assist, dual
front airbags, front curtain side airbags, and front side airbags. These
models are also equipped with fog lights, and a theft-deterrent system.
An anti-skid system, including a limited-slip differential, is an option
on both the sedan and the SportCross wagon.
