Visit Toyota for more information on the Toyota RAV4.

The 2003 Toyota RAV4 is the smallest SUV in the Toyota SUV line-up. It was actually the first compact SUV to be based on car engineering and it started a trend in 1996 when it was introduced. This is a great little vehicle with solid interior amenity levels, good performance, respectable fuel economy and throughout, Toyota's standard for reliability, quality and value.

2003 sees a few new things for the RAV4, including a newly available Sport Package with new exterior and interior styling. Add this to the existing assortment of aesthetic appeal, performance choices and quality components and the RAV4 is a winner.

Available Models
The 2003 Toyota RAV4 comes in a 20r and all-wheel drive version. The major packages allow for a diverse range of trim levels and interior amenity choices.

Interior Features
The interior of the 2003 Toyota RAV4, in line with its car like engineering, is designed to give it a sporty coupe feel more than that of an SUV. Easy-to-reach controls, cockpit-style instrumentation and metallic-look trim combine with roomy accommodations to ensure comfortable driving and riding conditions.

The basic selection of interior offerings on the 2003 Toyota RAV4 provides most of what a consumer needs including power steering, cloth upholstery, height adjustable drivers seat for great5visibility and and AM/FM/CD player. This year's new RAV4 Sport Package enhances the interior with sport fabric seats, color-keyed heated exterior mirrors and door handles.

Exterior Features
On the outside, the Toyota RAV4 story is similar. Distinctive basic features provide solid levels of form and function while major packages can change the look and feel to meet specific consumer needs or desires. The Sport Package dresses up the exterior with aerodynamic multi-reflective headlamps with blackout trim, a new grille, a hood scoop, and gray-painted overfenders.

Performance
The Toyota RAV4 has four different powertrain configurations. That is they come in four or front wheel drive and they can be coupled with either 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmissions. However, both drive systems work from a 4-cylinder engine. The smooth and responsive all-aluminum, 2.0-liter dohc engine produces 148 horsepower at 6000rpm and 142 lb.-ft. of peak torque at 4000 rpm.Gas mileage is particularly good, considering the vehicle's diverse utility, with 22/27 mpg (city//hwy).

Toyota's Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) helps boost torque at low- and mid-range engine speeds, resulting in sporty performance and ample power for highway readiness.

Safety and Security
Safety features include dual-front airbags and optional 4-wheel antilock disc brakes and daytime running lights.

2003 Toyota RAV4 Highlights

The RAV4 Sport Package for 2003 dresses up the exterior with a new grille, aerodynamic multi-reflective headlamps with blackout trim, a hood scoop and gray-painted overfenders. A tubular roof rack with polished stainless steel finish adds style and function, and Toyota dealers offer accessory attachments for it. Special sport fabric seats are exclusive to this new package, which also includes color-keyed heated exterior mirrors and door handles. The Sport Package includes air conditioning, cruise control, 3-in-1 audio system with six speakers, power windows, door locks and side mirrors and carpeted floor and cargo mats. The combination makes the RAV4 Sport one of the best-equipped, and best values, in its class.
Cockpit-style instrumentation and metallic-look trim give the RAV4 interior styling that is more like a sporty coupe than an SUV. Easy-to-reach controls and roomy accommodations ensure comfort in the front and back seats. The ergonomic front seats include standard height adjusters, providing occupants of any height with a true "command" view of the road that SUV customers prefer. Even with a greater ride height than sedans, the RAV4 is easy to enter and exit.
Privacy glass, a rear tonneau cover and carpeted floor mats, and cargo mats - all available as separate options - are also included in the L package, which has proven popular with RAV4 customers. An optional leather-trimmed interior, available in conjunction with the "L" package, brings a taste of luxury to the RAV4.
