2005 Chevy Blazer
Like a few other Chevy vehicles this year, 2005 will mark the final stage
in the Blazer's illustrious story. Four-door models are off the list of
credits, as only two-door models will be offered for the midsize sport
utility vehicle's last year.
With this in mind, it's not surprising that there are hardly any changes
to the 2005 Chevy Blazer this year. About the only thing of note is a
standard Smoker's Package. It includes an ashtray and lighter, so you
can smoke 'em if you got 'em.
Available Models
The 2005 Chevrolet Blazer is offered in a two-door standard configuration
as a base model. There are three equipment groups that you can add: 1SB,
1SC and ZR2, which is a performance package. In addition, Chevy offers
an Xtreme version of the Blazer.
Interior Features
Base-level Chevy Blazers have a standard features list that includes such
things as air conditioning, cloth upholstery, front bucket seats, a center
console, a split front bench seat, an AM/FM/CD player and more.
If you don't want the various equipment groups, you can add options individually.
There are quite a few offered for 2005, ranging from an AM/FM radio with
in-dash 6-disc CD changer, a power sunroof, steering-wheel radio controls
and a deluxe overhead console.
Exterior Features
The low-riding Xtreme model certainly lives up to its name. It features
low-profile tires, five-spoke aluminum wheels, special Xtreme badging,
deep-tint windows and color-keyed body cladding.
Performance
The engine inside the 2005 Chevy Blazer is a 4.3-liter Vortec V6. It churns
out 190 horsepower at 4400 rpm and 250 lb-ft of torque at 2800 rpm. Both
5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmissions are available, and
of course so too are 2WD and 4WD configurations. An available Autotrac
4-wheel-drive system automatically shifts power to all four wheels. Fuel
economy ratings vary with each setup.
The Xtreme and ZR2 are two models that take on and off-road driving to
new heights. The Xtreme has a low stance, Z87 sport suspension and a heavy-duty
trailer hitch to maximize paved street driving.
For off-road junkies, the ZR2 is perfect. It has a special wide stance
chassis and a raised ride height, heavy-duty suspension, Bilstein shocks,
heavy-duty differential gears and axles and aggressive fender flares.
Safety and Security
In addition to its standard antilock brake system and front-passenger
airbags, the Blazer features an optional programmable auto door lock/unlock
feature that allows customers to set the locking and unlocking functions
to their preferences.
