2005 Chevy TrailBlazer
New seats, more optional equipment, new colors and more safety features
all attend the 2005 edition of the popular TrailBlazer. Chevrolet's midsize
sport utility vehicle is the top-selling version of a design that is used
by GMC, Buick and Isuzu.
XM Satellite Radio continues as an option for 2005. It is joined by some
new add-ons, including an upgraded radio/navigation system with control
touch screen in the audio faceplate and a DVD player.
The former will prevent you from having to ask for directions, while
the latter keeps the kids quiet for hours on end.
Available Models
The 2005 Chevy TrailBlazer is offered in two trims: LS and LT. The TrailBlazer
EXT is covered separately.
Interior Features
Though not a complete redesign, the 2005 Chevy TrailBlazer does manage
to upgrade the interior trim from last year. There is revised badging
on the steering wheel, a new seat design for improved comfort and new
door panel, floormat and console trim designs for LT models.
In addition, there are new chrome interior accents throughout both the
LS and LT versions of the 2005 TrailBlazer.
Available options on the TrailBlazer include adjustable brake and accelerator
pedals, sun visors with lighted vanity mirrors, an inside rearview mirror
with temperature gauge and compass, rain-sensing wipers and leather seating
surfaces with eight-way-power driver and passenger seats,
Exterior Features
Also optional for 2005 are a sunroof and both factory- and dealer-installed
running boards.
Performance
The Chevy TrailBlazer continues to be rugged, able to handle rough driving
conditions without much of a problem. 2005 TrailBlazers can be had with
either two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. An Autotrac four-wheel-drive
system is standard on 4WD models, while traction control is available
as an option for 2WD models.
The standard engine this year with 2005 Chevy TrailBlazers is a 4.2-liter
inline 6-cylinder model that can generate 275 horsepower at 6000 rpm and
275 lb-ft of torque at 3600 rpm. It is mated to a rugged Hydra-Matic 4L60-E
electronically controlled 4-speed automatic transmission.
For the bumps: a five-link rear suspension and independent double-A-arms
up front work with a system of 12 specially tuned body mounts using hydraulics
and rubber pads to dramatically reduce vibration and harshness on any
kind of road or trail.
Safety and Security
Upgraded occupant safety is one of the key improvements to the 2005 Chevy
TrailBlazer. Some of the key upgrades include an available head side curtain
airbag system with a rollover protection sensing system, an occupant sensing
system for the front passenger, a revised front safety belt reminder system
and the LATCH child seat anchorage system.
