2005 Chevy EquinoxChevy adds another midsize sport utility vehicle to its stable in 2005 with the introduction of the new Equinox. Though smaller and less expensive than the other SUV in the tandem, the TrailBlazer, the Equinox is still very capable and extremely versatile. The 2005 Chevy Equinox has a car-based platform, but it also uses steel body panels for an added bit of ruggedness. It has an innovative rear seat and a multi-tier cargo configuration for the type of interior flexibility busy families will surely love. There's also one strong V6 engine under the hood. Available Models Interior Features LS and LT models virtually share the same interior appointments, with the LT getting cruise control and map lights added. They both come with air conditioning, cloth upholstery, a center console, power mirrors, windows and door locks, remote keyless entry and an AM/FM/CD player. Options for the debut year include satellite radio, the OnStar system, heated leather seats, a 6-disc CD changer and an upgraded sound system. Exterior Features Performance An independent MacPherson strut suspension up front and a four-link coil spring layout in the rear results in a smooth, comfortable ride. The rear suspension has a trailing arm plus three additional locating links to facilitate a low, wide load floor and maximum rear passenger space. The 2005 Chevy Equinox also boasts the longest wheelbase in its class. Safety and Security Curtain side airbags are optional this year.
