2002 Honda Accord Sedan
With the prestigious position as the best-selling car in North America,
the popular Honda Accord Sedan enters 2002 enjoying a tremendous reputation
and a significant increase in sales that leaves the competition wringing
their hands in frustration.
Available Models
In order to provide you with so many choices that you need
not look elsewhere, the new 2002 Honda Accord Sedan is available in a
multitude of models with different standards, options, and performance
specifications. These include: Accord DX, Accord LX, Accord EX, Accord
EX V6, Accord LX V6, Accord SE, and Accord VP (Value Package). New for
2002 are the SE (offered in 2WD and 4WD) and Value Package models.
Interior Features
The entry-level Accord DX Sedan features an AM/FM cassette with two
speakers, optional air conditioning, center console with armrest and storage
compartment, a folding rear seat to increase cargo area, and front and
rear door pockets. The LX model adds power windows, power door locks,
cruise control, AM/FM stereo with CD player and six speakers, cup holders,
and air conditioning as standards.
Toward
the highest level, the Honda Accord SE Sedan packs a moonroof, AM/FM stereo
with cassette player and CD player, wood interior trim on the four-wheel
drive version and silver accents in the two-wheel drive model, and a power
driver's seat.
Exterior Features
Starting again at the base DX level, we find dual remote manual
outside mirrors, color-keyed bumpers, and optional alloy wheels. The LX
features upgrades such as color-keyed door handles and color-keyed dual
power outside mirrors. The Accord SE Sedan highlights special fifteen-inch
alloy wheels instead of the standard wheel covers, and a moonroof for
a cheerful and sporty atmosphere. Finally, the Value Package comes with
exclusive wheel covers, and chrome window trim.
Performance
The Accord DX Sedan is equipped with a 2.3-litre, 16-valve,
SOHC, four-cylinder engine that produces 135 horsepower and 145 lb-ft
of torque. Up another level, the LX jumps to 150 horsepower and 145 lb-ft
of torque with similar specs but featuring a VTEC valve train. The V6
models headline a 3.0-litre, 24-valve, SOHC, VTEC engine with an output
of 200 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque for outstanding acceleration
and performance.
Each model is built with front-wheel drive, and the DX and LX models
are equipped with standard five-speed manual transmission. Six-cylinder
models plus the SE all have four-speed automatic transmission as the standard.
Each Accord Sedan is fitted with all-season tires.
Safety and Security
The Honda Accord sedan is equipped with extensive safety features
that include an immobilizer theft deterrent system, driver depowered air
bag, passenger depowered air bag, internal emergency trunk release, three-point
seatbelts, child safety locks, and child seat tethers and anchors. ABS
brakes are standard on the EX models and up, and the SE has a remote keyless
entry system and security system. Side impact air bags are optional.
