2002 Honda CR-V
Among the most popular of sport utility vehicles is the sporty yet sophisticated
2002 Honda CR-V SUV, a clever combination of utilitarian design, convenience,
luxury, and solid performance. With Honda's reputation for quality vehicles
that enjoy great resale value, the CR-V may just be the right vehicle
for you.
Available Models
In the hunt for a position of top dog in the flood SUV market
this year are three models - CR-V 2WD LX, CR-V 4WD LX, and CR-V 4WD EX.
Between the three of them, a wide variety of options and features are
covered, and the 4WD models are available to meet more demanding driving
requirements.
Interior Features
All three Honda CR-V models feature reclining front bucket
seats, reclining seatbacks, manual height adjustment on the driver's seat,
power windows, power door locks, cruise control, air conditioning with
filtration system, and an AM/FM stereo with cassette player and four speakers.
The list continues with standards like a retractable tray table, front
and rear beverage holders, removable folding picnic table, and 60/40 split
folding, sliding, and tumbling rear seats.
Each vehicle has cargo area grocery bag hooks, cargo hook, cargo area
light, remote glass hatch release, and door packet storage bins. The CR-V
4WD EX model upgrades the audio system to include a CD player and six
speakers.
Exterior
Features
All models are equipped with dual power outside mirrors (color-keyed
on 4WD EX), high-mounted tail lights, green heat-rejecting glass, body
side molding, an exterior spare tire carrier with tire cover, chrome grille
accent, and full swinging tailgate with integrated glass hatch. The CR-V
4WD EX sports rear privacy glass and a power moonroof with tilt feature.
Performance
Under the hood of the Honda CR-V SUV is a 2.4-litre, DOHC,
i-VTEC aluminum alloy four-cylinder engine that cranks out 160 horsepower
and 162 lb-ft of torque. The front-wheel drive CR-V 2WD LX has four-speed
manual transmission, while the 4WD models come with standard five-speed
manual transmission (automatic optional). The four-wheel drive version
is terrific for powering through mud and snow.
Safety and Security
With a conscious eye towards safety - especially in a vehicle
that is becoming poplar with families - safety standards on the Honda
CR-V include a driver air bag, passenger air bag, optional side impact
air bags, three-point seatbelts, head restraints, child seat tethers and
anchors, and child safety locks. The body is reinforced with side impact
door beams, and designed with crumple zones. The 4WD EX is equipped with
ABS brakes.
