The well-appointed cabin of the base model Nissan Maxima GXE
Sedan begins with steering wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls, power
windows, power door locks, HomeLink Universal Transceiver, cruise control,
a handy cargo net, and tilt steering column. The list continues to include
such standards as air conditioning, height adjustable center armrest,
leather-wrapped gearshift, and an eight-way power adjustable driver's
seat. The rear seat conveniently splits 60/40 and folds down to accommodate
extra cargo, and a premium AM/FM stereo with cassette player and CD player
is also standard fare.
Higher models add even more, among the examples being automatic climate
control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather upholstery, drilled metal
pedals, simulated wood trim, four-way power passenger's seat, heated front
seats and steering wheel, and an upgraded Bose audio system.
Exterior Features
Each Nissan Maxima GXE Sedan sports sixteen-inch five-spoke
aluminum alloy wheels, while the SE and GLE models are fitted with seventeen-inch
six-spoke aluminum alloy and seventeen-inch seven-spoke aluminum alloy
wheels respectively. Each vehicle is built with lower-body side spoilers,
dark titanium grille surround, and dual power outside mirrors. The SE
and GLE feature chrome exhaust tip finishers, fog lights, and an optional
power sliding glass sunroof with slide and tilt function.
Performance
Revving up under the hood of the front-wheel drive Nissan Maxima
Sedan is an impressive 3.5-litre, DOHC, 24-valve, six-cylinder engine
that pumps out 255 horsepower and 246 lb-ft of torque. Among the world-class
specifications are double-tipped platinum spark plugs, continuously variable
timing control, and variable intake manifold.
The standard transmission on the GXE and GLE models is a four-speed automatic,
while the SE sports a fun six-speed manual transmission and also highlights
a sport-tuned suspension.
Safety and Security
The list of safety standards on the Nissan Maxima Sedan includes
four-wheel ABS brakes, two-stage driver air bag, two-stage passenger air
bag, three-point seatbelts, front and rear crumple zones, and side impact
door beams. For those with children, each vehicle is equipped with child
safety locks in the rear seating area, plus child safety seat tethers
and anchors.
