The stylish and sporty new 2002 Honda Civic Coupe is appealing to not
only younger folk, but anybody who enjoys a fun-loving vehicle with a
spirited character and aerodynamic lines. Not only does it have terrific
curbside appeal, its rear hatch makes it versatile and convenient for
everyday life.
Available Models
Up for grabs for this year are four two-door models that offer
you a wide variety of luxury and performance standards to suit your driving
requirements and budget. Choose from the two-door Civic DX Coupe, Civic
HX Coupe, Civic LX Coupe, and the Civic EX Coupe.

Beginning with the entry-level Civic DX Coupe, standard fare
includes an AM/FM stereo with four speakers and clock, a front beverage
holder, 60/40 split rear folding seat to accommodate extra luggage and
cargo, and a center console with storage. A cargo net, driver's armrest,
and air conditioning are all available. The Civic HX Coupe upgrades the
sound system to include a cassette player, and the passenger seat has
a walk-in feature.
The Civic LX includes an illuminated driver's switch, front beverage
holder with lid, passenger walk-in feature with memory, air conditioning,
and center console with lid. Finally, the top-end Civic EX Coupe features
the addition of an anti-theft CD player with six speakers, front and rear

Exterior Features
Starting again with the DX Coupe, standard items include fourteen-inch
wheels, dual manual remote-operated mirrors, body-colored bumpers, tinted
glass, trunk lid garnish, and a front air spoiler. The HX Coupe sports
dual power outside mirrors. Civic LX is spruced up with a body-colored
trunk lid garnish and door handles.
The Honda Civic EX Coupe puts it all together and makes key additions
such as a power moon roof with tilt feature, fifteen-inch wheels, and
body-colored dual power outside mirrors.
Performance
A variety of engine combinations are offered in the 2002 line
up. Base model Civic DX and the Civic LX both sport an aluminum alloy,
SOHC, 16-valve, four-cylinder engine with 115 horsepower and 110 lb-ft
of torque. HX upgrades that with a VTEC engine to achieve 117 horsepower
and 111 lb-ft of torque. At the top end, the Civic EX checks in with a
VTEC engine that produces 127 horsepower and 114 lb-ft of torque.
All four models are front-wheel drive and feature a standard five-speed
manual transmission with optional four-speed automatic on all by the HX
Coupe. The HX model is equipped with a continuously variable transmission.
Safety and Security
Each Honda Civic Coupe is backed by an immobilizer theft deterrent
system, driver air bag, passenger air bag, optional side impact air bags,
front and rear three-point seatbelts, child safety locks, and child seat
tethers and anchors. To channel the energy of an impact away from passengers,
each vehicle is designed with front and rear crumple zones, and reinforced
with side impact door beams. Adding to this, the Civic EX features ABS
brakes.
