2003 Infiniti Q45
The top-level sedan in Infiniti's luxury line-up, the 2003 Infiniti Q45
is the brand's flagship model. As such, it has Infiniti's best of everything,
in all areas, handling, power, interior amenity, comfort, safety and class.
The result is a vehicle with incredible speed and power, razor sharp handling,
standard everything, state of the art safety technology, both passive
and active, and limousine comfort and ride quality.
This year sees two dozen changes in a complete refreshed design. The
changes range from technical enhancements like a higher numerical final
drive gear ratio (for a better acceleration feel), to revised exterior
styling, with grille and rear finisher changes and new exterior colors.
Value has been added with heated seats and other previous big-ticket options
adopted as standard equipment.
Available Models
Unlike the other Infiniti models, the 2003 Infiniti Q45 has two trim-levels
to choose from, with Luxury and Premium versions. For a small amount extra,
buyers can add the few items not included at the Luxury grade.
Interior Features
Interior luxuries abound on the 2003 Infiniti Q45. For example, it features
"Sojourner" leather upholstery on heated front bucket seats
(10-way power driver side and 8-way power passenger side), dual-zone automatic
climate controls, power tilt/telescoping wood/leather-wrapped steering
wheel with radio controls for the 225-watt Bose AM/FM/6CD auto-changer,
a memory system (driver seat, mirrors, steering wheel), wood interior
trim, and heated power automatic day/night side mirrors with signal lights.
The Premium edition gets some additional electronic and technological
sophistication. Standard equipment at this level includes intelligent
cruise control, DVD navigation system, rear view monitor, climate-controlled
front seats, heated and power reclining rear seats, rear climate and radio
controls, power rear sunshade, manual rear side sunshades and, to top
it off, computer controlled and driver adjustable rear suspension. For
when the ride is just not smooth enough.
Exterior Features
Three new exterior colors (eight total colors available) are offered for
the new model year, Emerald Mist, Brilliant Silver and Golden Sand, to
cover an exterior that continues to be distinctive, elegant and performance
oriented. A large grille and prominent Infiniti badge sets the tone, while
the car's high-class sculpted profile, raised rear deck and large taillights.
17 or 18-inch wheels add to the form and function.
Performance
An aluminum-alloy, double overhead-cam, 4.5-liter V8 engine, one shared
with the M45, produces a whopping 340 hp at 6400 rpm and 333 lb-ft of
torque at 4000. Titanium valves, microfinished crankshaft, lightweight
pistons, single stage cam drive chain and a hydraulically driven cooling
fan maximize performance and minimize noise. A 5-speed automatic transmission
with manual shift mode controls this powerplant, in concert with a Continuously
Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS), achieving mileage ratings
from the EPA of 17/23 mpg and the ability to do 0-60 mph in under 7 seconds.
The built-in performance and handling technology includes the best that
Infinity has to offer. Standard Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), which helps
improve vehicle stability during understeer, oversteer or adverse road
conditions and an integral Traction Control System (TCS) combine with
technologies like the laser-guided intelligent cruise control, which maintains
a constant distance between you and the car in front.
Safety and Security
Safety technology is extensive and first class with dual-stage supplemental
air bags with seat belt sensors that sense collision severity, seat belt
usage and deploy accordingly. Side-impact air bags and side curtain supplemental
air bags and advanced belt systems, including the child-seat restraint
LATCH system, add to occupant safety.
4-wheel vented disc brakes with ABS, Brake Assist and Electronic Brake
force Distribution come as standard equipment on the Q45.
