2003 Nissan Sentra
For 2003, Nissan is celebrating the success of its 4-cylinder 4-door
sedan, the Sentra, by adding a Limited Edition model to its other two
models. With a larger engine, this Limited Edition offers more power;
it also contains more safety, security, and comfort features.
The Sentra appears to have been around forever but small wonder. It is
economical, handles wonderfully, and has stood the test of time.
Available Models
The 2003 Nissan Sentra comes in the base XE model, the GXE model, and
the Limited Edition model. Both the XE and GXE contain a 1.8-litre engine
which this year adheres to more rigid emissions guidelines. These two
models are offered with 5-speed manual transmission but if desired, 4-speed
automatic transmission is also available.
The 2003 Nissan Sentra Limited Edition model is an upscale version of
the GXE, fitted with a 2.5-litre engine plus automatic transmission.
Interior Features
Inside the 2003 Nissan Sentra, there is a comfortable cabin, with well-designed,
cushioned seats. All three models are provided with the following standard
interior features: a tilt-steering wheel, power steering, and front bucket
seats. The GXE and Limited Edition models also have a split folding rear
seat, air conditioning, remote keyless entry, a tachometer, map lights,
and AM/FM/CD player. Both these models are also equipped with a height-adjustable
driver seat, while in the Limited Edition model, cruise control and a
leather-wrapped steering wheel are also standard features.
Exterior Features
The Sentra's 14-inch wheels have now been replaced with 15-inch wheels.
The Limited Edition comes equipped with alloy wheels as standard, and
these are an option on the GXE. A rear spoiler is an option on all three
models, while the Limited Edition can be fitted with a power sunroof.
Performance
Both the XE and GXE contain a 1.8-litre dohc 4-cylinder engine which does
126 hp at 6000 rpm, and 129 lbs-ft of torque at 2400 rpm. The Limited
Edition's larger 2.5-litre dohc 4-cylinder engine does 165 hp at 6000
rpm, and 175 lbs-ft of torque at 4000 rpm, exceptional for a smaller sedan.
Fuel economy ranges from 28/36 mpg (city/highway) for the XE and GXE models
to 23/28 mpg for the Limited Edition model.
Safety and Security
All models are provided with dual front airbags and emergency inside trunk
release as standard safety features. The Limited Edition also has anti-lock
4-wheel disc brakes and front-side airbags, and purchasers of the GXE
can opt for these important add-ons as well. Also standard on the Limited
Edition is a theft-deterrent system, while an attractive option on the
GXE is fog lights.
