Visit Subaru for more information on the Subaru Impreza.

The Impreza is Subaru's smallest car, though it has a demeanor that is larger than it looks. The 2003 Subaru Impreza handles like a dream, thanks in part because of Subaru's all-wheel drive system and in part because of the specific features manufacturers appointed to match the vehicle's size. Even with only detail updates for 2003, the new Impreza is still a highly capable and extremely versatile model that can handle any type of weather condition.

Available Models
The 2003 Subaru Impreza sedan is offered in two trim levels: RS and the rally-inspired WRX. The Impreza is also offered in a wagon body style (separate review).

Interior Features
Though it is the smallest vehicle offered by Subaru, the four-door 2003 Subaru Impreza still seats five comfortably. With over three feet of front and rear headroom and over 42 inches of front legroom, the Impreza sedan can confidently accommodate large passengers.

All 2003 Subaru Imprezas have a carefully laid-out interior with convenience and relaxation in mind. Air conditioning, power steering, cruise control, cloth upholstery, power mirrors, windows and door locks and an AM/FM/CD player are standard on both the body types. However, the sedan offers a bit more in the way of features, with the base RS trim adding remote keyless entry and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. WRX models have an in-dash 6-disc CD changer and map lights. If that's not enough, the long options list should satisfy.

Exterior Features
Both the RS and the WRX have 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. The WRX displays its adventurous side with an aluminum-alloy hood featuring a functional hood scoop and aerodynamic side ground effects.

Performance
As always, the all-wheel drive system that has been a staple of Subaru vehicles comes standard with the 2003 Subaru Impreza sedan. In place, it gives the 2003 Subary Impreza sedan exceptional control and handling. There are two engines available with the Impreza sedan. The first is offered with RS models. It is a 165-horsepower, horizontally opposed 2.5-liter engine. The WRX is based on Subaru's World Rally competition cars and has a 227-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and sport suspension. 4-speed automatic transmission and 5-speed manual are both offered.

Safety and Security
Subaru models lead the way in terms of safety features. In addition to its all-wheel drive system, the Impreza sedan also comes with antilock 4-wheel disc brakes and dual front airbags. The WRX also comes with front side airbags.
