The 2002 Mercury Sable Sedan goes to market this year with three models - Sable GS, Sable GS Plus, and LS Premium.

Interior Features
The four-door Sable Sedan has several new features this year, including a LED rear center high mounted stop light, auto-dimming rear view mirror with compass available as an option of the GS Plus and LS Premium, security approach lightning on all models. The LS Premium has the option of luxurious leather seating, and a variety of new modern paint colors has been released.

The spacious interior is available in five-passenger and six-passenger configurations. The five-pasenger model sports a floor-mounted shifter and front center console, while the six-passenger vehicles have a flip-fold center seat that also doubles as a handy center console when not in use.

The rear seat splits 60/40 and folds down to accommodate surplus cargo, and there is 16.0 cubic feet of luggage volume in the trunk.

Exterior Features
The Mercury Sable Sedan is graced with attractive jeweled headlights and taillights, plus standard sixteen-inch wheels. The LS Premium sports seven-spoke alloy wheels. The dual outside mirrors on all vehciles feature security approach lighting.

Performance
Beginning with the Mercury Sable GS Sedan, it packs a 3.0-litre, OHV, 12-valve Vulcan V6 engine that cranks out 155 horsepower and 185 lbs-ft of torque. The Sable LS Sedan is powered by a 3.0-litre, 24-valve, Duratec V6 engine with 200 horsepower and 200 lbs-ft of torque.

Standard transmission on each of these front-wheel drive models is a responsive four-speed automatic transmission. Handling is smooth and effortless, with minimal noise and vibration.

Safety and Security
The 2002 Mercury Sable Sedan highlights notable safety facts such as the five-star crash test rating for driver and front passenger. Each vehicle is equipped with a driver depowered air bag, passenger depowered air bag, three-point seatbelts, head restraints, side impact door beams, and both front and rear crumpoe zones.
