2002 Volkswagen Golf
The trendy and refined new 2002 Volkswagen Golf Hatchback continues to

Available Models
The 2002 line up consists of four different hatchback models
- Golf GL 2.0L, Golf GL TDI, Golf GLS 2.0L, and Golf GLS TDI. The Golf
GL models feature two doors plus a convenient rear hatch, while the Golf
GLS models sport four doors plus the rear hatch.
Interior Features
Within the comfortable cabin of the 2002 Volkswagen Golf are
features like chrome interior door handles, valet key, cruise control,
power windows, CFC-free air conditioning, and a 60/40 split folding rear
seat to create extra cargo space. The list continues with four tie-down
cargo hooks, power door locks, and an AM/FM stereo cassette player with
eight speakers and optional CD changer.
The VW Golf GL models are finished off with flat woven cloth seat fabric,
while the GLS models are upholstered in velour.
Exterior Features
The stylish and popular VW Golf is equipped with a rear wiper/washer,
standard fifteen-inch steel wheels with full wheel covers, body color
side moldings, body color grille with center logo, body color door handles,
and body color bumpers with black lower section. A power glass sunroof
with tilt and slide feature is available as an option of the Golf GLS
models.
Performance
In the performance arena, the VW Golf 2.0L models are built
with - you guessed it - a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that produces
115 horsepower and 122 lb-ft of torque. Golf GLS models are equipped with
a 1.9-litre four-cylinder engine that creates 90 horsepower and 149 lb-ft
of torque.
Standard equipment on all models includes power assisted front vented
disc brakes, rear solid disc brakes, power assisted rack-and-pinion steering,
front and rear gas shock absorbers, front stabilizer bar, independent
front MacPherson struts and stabilizer bar, independent track correcting
torsion beam rear axle with integrated stabilizer bar, and separate mounted
rear coil springs and shocks for increased luggage/loading capacity. The
standard transmission is a five-speed manual with four-speed automatic
transmission available as an option.
Safety and Security
The VW Golf Hatchbacks pack a hard shell box around the battery
for protection, crash optimized front end body panels, side impact door
beams, side curtain air bags, driver air bag, passenger air bag, side
impact air bags, child safety locks in four-door models, and child seat
tethers and anchors.
