2002 Pontiac Sunfire
Racy, aerodynamic lines and a slick overall appearance are the hallmarks
of the sporty new 2002 Pontiac Sunfire. Those of you looking to break
away from the average without sacrificing sensibility and without draining
your bank account will find the Sunfire to be a great combination of good
looks and practicality.
Available Models
On the market this year are the 2002 Pontiac Sunfire SE Sedan,
Sunfire SE Coupe, and 2002 Pontiac Sunfire GT Coupe. Not only are these
three excellent models offered, there are also eight key packages available
- Convenience Package, Driver Convenience Package, Power Package, Security
Package, Sport Interior Package, Sun and Sound Package, Special Edition
Sedan, and Sun and Storm Package.
Interior Features
The Convenience Package includes a trunk net, reading lamps,
assist handles, and overhead storage console, while the Driver's Convenience
Package is graced with cruise control, trunk net, reading lamps, overhead
storage, and assist handles. All models have air conditioning.
A Sport Interior features a leather-wrapped steering wheel, parking brake
handle, and gearshift knob. The driver's seat has adjustable lumbar support
and a seatback pocket.
For even more fun while you drive your sporty 2002 Pontiac Sunfire, the
Sun and Sound Package boasts a power glass sunroof, AM/FM stereo with
CD player and six speakers. Along the same lines, the Sun and Storm Package
also comes with a power glass sunroof and upgrades the entertainment with
a premium Monsoon AM/FM stereo with CD player.
A unique sedan package is available this year as well. The Special Edition
Sedan includes an AM/FM stereo with CD player and six speakers, remote
keyless entry system, power door locks, power windows, and power mirrors.
Exterior Features
The 2002 Pontiac Sunfire SE Sedan is equipped with fourteen-inch
custom wheel covers and all-season tires, body side moldings, and a rear
decklid spoiler. Fifteen-inch touring radials and wheel covers are available
as an option. The GT Coupe is fitted with sixteen-inch GT-specific cast
aluminum wheels and performance tires. A power glass sunroof that includes
reading lamps is available on both of the Sunfire coupe models.
Performance
Under the hood of the 2002 Pontiac Sunfire SE Coupe and SE
Sedan runs a 2.2-litre OHV engine that produces 115 horsepower and 135
lb-ft of torque. The standard transmission is five-speed manual, with
four-speed automatic offered as an option.
The 2002 Pontiac Sunfire GT Coupe upgrades performance with a 2.2-litre
DOHC engine with an output of 140 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque.
On this model, a five-speed manual transmission and optional automatic
transmission are standard.
Safety and Security
The Pontiac Sunfire models are equipped with driver and passenger
air bags, a rear center lapbelt, three-point outboard seatbelts, four-wheel
ABS brakes, side impact door beams, front and rear crumple zones, and
a theft deterrent system. Traction control is available as an option.
